When looking to add a pop of color to large clothing pieces, make sure to have one statement item that pops or you’ll overdo it. Looking to wear a red dress, black blazer and black pumps? We love it. Having a large statement piece such as a dress as well as additional accessories will lose the pop factor, we suggest keeping the large statement pieces as your only “pop”.
After working in Marketing and Business Development for a few years, Pratima Ati jumped ship to pursue two things she loved – fashion and writing. She’s now a full-time Fashion & Lifestyle writer and has never looked back ever since. She sleeps early, reads often, and when she can't, she finally gives a closure to all the characters living in her drafts. Sometimes, they pass off as poetry too! That, and her training in Indian classical music and playing (learning) the veena keep her sane, civil, and bearable.
"Every woman really only needs 20 core items in her closet," advises Nazarudin. "A black pair of pants, a blue blazer, a cashmere V-neck sweater in a jewel tone, and so on." Outside of these 20, you can experiment with more inexpensive items — if you don't like them, it's not nearly as bad as if you dropped $300 on a trendy piece you only wore once. If you need tips on how to maximize your basics, check out Good Housekeeping Style Director Lori Bergamotto's weeklong experiment in wearing the same thing every day.
Ready for a mind-blowing fashion hack? According to Lauren Edelstein, Style Director at Shopbop, all you need to do to determine whether or not a pair of jeans will fit is to wrap the waist around your neck — if the ends meet without overlapping (or stretching), they'll fit your waist. "The neck trick is one I was skeptical about, but it really works!"

Hi guys! Hope you enjoy this week's fashion video we put together for you today. I’ve been seeing a lot of how to look expensive / how to look on trend / how to always look stylish / how to always look put together videos floating around on YouTube. This is sort of my take on this type of vid. I have been so swamped (and still am) finishing up my master thesis. A few more days to go guys!! Wish me luck! Let me know what you guys think of the vid down below! And I would love to hear style rules you live by.
I was early for a nearby appointment so decided to stop in Consignment Originals. It had been years since going in, and I was surprised to find they have expanded the store to the space next door, and now sell furniture and lots of other home décor items. Since they expanded, it’s not as cramped and crowded as their “competitor” consignment shop in town. As soon as I walked in, I noticed a bamboo bar cart in the window, marked $32 (perfect condition). There was also a sign that had all furniture & home items an extra 20% off! The item was not going to fit in my car, so they put it on hold for me (simple process). I absolutely love the cart – it’s perfect, and I’m definitely glad I snatched it while I could. A week later I was browsing a new home store in Farmington, and saw the SAME exact one for $275!!?!?!?! I definitely lucked out. Check Consignment Originals for some great finds!”
Tired of wearing the same old drabby black outfits and boring sweaters? Are you looking in search of the perfect outfit and were left with what seemed to be the aftermath of the Tasmanian Devil visiting our closet rather than the Devil Wears Prada? Most of us wear the same paired items all year long and just need to spruce them up or brighten them up a bit. A little secret most Fashion Novas keep in their back pocket is the importance of adding a pop of color.
